I liked WALL-E:
not for the graphics, it was expected of Pixar.
not for the romance, robotic love is much better depicted in Asimov’s stories -> movies and in Spielberg’s AI.
not for the earth in future, because no matter how we scream, it’s americal nature to eat and indian nature to cook.
not for the human race in future, because the whole world believes so whole-heartedly in american ways that it’s beyond doubt that if you want to survive, eat and don’t move, money will do it for you.
I liked WALL-E for the cruel loneliness the movie depicted most accurately, and chillingly. A robot alone in a junkyard of a planet. A ship-full of humanity alone in the universe. And a plant alone in the history of seven hundred years.
By the way, is it only me who watched the small add-on to Wall-E, namely “BURN-E”…? For those who didn’t watch it, it’s a small story of the repair robot Wall-E and Eve locked out of the spaceship. Purely for fun.
